Cousins Tanya Salagiannis and Helen Kyrillidis opened up Sweet Surrender Bake House in September of 2012, purchasing the former New Levittown Park Bake Shop on Wantagh Avenue in Levittown. After making some tweaks to existing recipes, introducing more modern pastries and making major renovations to both the exterior and interior, Sweet Surrender Bake House improved upon the Bake Shop’s stellar reputation for quality baked goods and is proud of its high marks. Sweet Surrender Bake House has been featured on Fox 5’s Good Day New York, where the anchors, Greg Kelly and Rosanna Scotto, were blown away by all the delicious baked treats especially the Crannoli, the rainbow cookies and the black and white cookies. Sweet Surrender has also been featured in Newsday, the Levittown Tribune and various different food blogs and reviews. Owner Tanya Salagiannis has even competed on a the Food Network show Rewrapped. They have participated in CP Nassau's Taste and Toast the Town, where their sweets won Best Dessert in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and their showpiece (made up entirely of bread) helped them win Best Overall Table in 2016. They also give back to the local community as much as possible which is why they have been awarded appreciation awards from the local Levittown Knights of Columbus, Forgotten Friends of Long Island and the Testaverde Foundation.
